Cross Cultural Understanding #2

Cititation : Savas, Gokhan. (2016). Understanding Gender and Race Differences in High School Achivement in the United States. American Journal of Educational Research. 4 (6). 427-438.

When i first read the abstract of this journal, honestly, I feel interested about the researcher opinion about the material of the journal. This journal is talk about gender and race difference in high school achivement. From what I’ve been read, it written that female and male are have different sets of values, attitudes and behaviours. Female are more well-prepared than male in case going to school. Male intend to have more anti-school attidues and disruptive behaviours which affect to what the male achive educationally. Different with male, female are being more socialized and more independent so they have closer relationship with both their parents and teachers.  Male students are more likely to have negative school behaviour and also more likely to spend less time on homework compared to females students.   But from this journal, not only the boys that the researcher concern, also racial/ethic minorities, especially African American. African American students, both female or male intend to have negative behaviour in school and have a low educational stage because they think that what ever they do, it wrong. Because it already in their mind the racial phenomenon of difference between their race and pure american. From this journal, racial/ethnic students who the parents has a low socio-economic condition or high socio-economis condition have different educational levels. The higher socio-economic parents will expect their kids to have a higher educatin level but the low socio-economic more likely to accept their destiny as can as possible.

So from this journal, I concluded that female student is more well-prepared and might be more intelegence in educational level rather than male student and racial/ethic students.
